What Zero Trust means
Zero Trust replaces the old idea of a trusted internal network with a simple rule: never trust by default, always verify. Every user and device must prove who it is, and access is limited to what is needed.
Start with identity and access
Use multi-factor authentication for all staff. Give each person access only to the systems they need. Remove accounts promptly when people leave.
Then the network
Divide the network into zones for staff, servers, guests, IoT and management. Use 802.1X so that only authorised devices can join the wired and wireless network. Apply firewall rules between zones and log the traffic that crosses them.
Grow step by step
Zero Trust is a journey, not a single product. Begin with the most valuable systems, measure progress and extend the controls over time. Navijin partners can help plan a phased approach that fits your budget and existing equipment.
